HISTORY:

The arena was originally known as the Molson Centre after the company that owned it when the arena opened in 1996. The arena was renamed the Bell Centre in February 2002. Bell Centre replaced iconic Montreal Forum, which opened in 1924 and was widely considered the most historic building in NHL history. The Canadiens won 23 of their NHL record 24 Stanley Cups while calling the Forum home. The Bell Centre, which hosted the 2009 NHL All-Star Game, is the largest arena in the NHL and the team has retired 14 jersey numbers that hang from the rafters. The Canadiens will celebrate their 100th season in 2009 and will open the Montreal Canadiens Hall of Fame at Bell Centre with exhibits and other displays of the team's history. Tours of Bell Centre take from 45 minutes to an hour and are conducted daily at 11:15 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. in English and 9:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. in French. From Sherbrooke and Eastern Townships: Follow AUT-10 East. Take the Champlain Bridge to AUT-15 North; Take AUT-720 East to exit 4 (de la Montagne North). Turn left on St.-Antoine Street West, right on Rue de la Montagne and right again on Rue de la Gauchetière Ouest (Street).

From Trois-Riviere and Quebec: Take AUT-40 West to exit 66-S to AUT-Décarie South. Take AUT-720 East to exit 4 (de la Montagne North). Turn left on St-Antoine Street West, right on Rue de la Montagne and right again on Rue de la Gauchetière Ouest (Street).

From Drummondville: Take AUT-20 West and exit at AUT-132 West. Take the Champlain Bridge to AUT-15 North. Take AUT-720 East to exit 4 (de la Montagne North). Turn left on St-Antoine Street West, right on Rue de la Montagne and right again on Rue de la Gauchetière Ouest (Street).

Parking:

Bell Centre's parking is open to the public Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for $8. On event nights, parking is $20 for Canadiens games. Many parking lots also surround the Bell Centre.
