ESPN launches new service in Taiwan
TAIPEI -- Viewers in Taiwan now enjoy a new, improved ESPN that stared Sept. 30, 1999 with the launch of ESPN Taiwan, a dedicated feed for this market based on the viewing habits and sports preference of Taiwanese viewers. This was announced by Mr. Simon Yu, Senior Vice President, International Sales & Marketing, ESPN STAR Sports, at a press conference held in Taipei last evening. Customized to better serve the needs of Taiwan viewers, ESPN Taiwan will focus on showing more international sporting events and programs popular in Taiwan, namely: Major League Baseball (MLB) and NCAA baseball, National Basketball Association (NBA) and NCAA basketball, NCAA Football, Asian Bowling Tour, Golf, Boxing, Billiards, X Games and SportsCenter everyday. To suit local viewers' convenience, these will be scheduled in their prime-time viewing slot from 19:00 to 02:00.
