Minnesota Vikings vs.
Washington Redskins ![]() |
Portis shines despite injured shoulder
In a battle of two teams that have each undergone many off-season changes, the Vikings rolled up close to 400 yards against the Redskins - and have only one touchdown to show for it. Minnesota lost four fumbles, including three in Washington territory, and saw their offense bog down almost every time they crossed the Redskins' 40-yard line.
Washington, meanwhile, got great production from Clinton Portis, who rushed for 162 yards despite being a question mark all week due to an injured shoulder. Portis showed no ill effects from his injury and kept the chains moving all day for the Redskins, who also got a late TD toss from Mark Brunell to Santana Moss. Portis's Minnesota counterpart, Chester Taylor, rushed for 140 yards on just 22 carries but coughed up the ball three times in the loss.
