The Tennessee Titans defeated the Minnesota Vikings 28-14 in front of a sold out crowd of 68,789 fans at LP Field on Sunday. The Titans put up a touchdown in each of the four quarters on their way to the victory.

Outside linebacker David Thornton got the Titans on the board in the first, intercepting a Gus Frerotte pass and returning it 43 yards for the score. Running back Chris Johnson scored the Titans touchdown in the second quarter, a 4-yard run up the middle. Wide receiver Justin Gage caught a 7-yard Kerry Collins pass in the third and Justin McCareins caught a 19-yard Collins pass in the fourth quarter to round out the Titans scoring.

The Vikings had hoped the move to Frerotte would spark the offense but the team only managed 140 yards through the air and 128 yards on the ground. The early Frerotte interception changed the attitude of the Vikings offense and they never really attacked downfield for the rest of the game, settling for high percentage short passes.
