Chargers extend season with win over Broncos
Win or go home. That's what it has come down to for the Chargers and Broncos.
And it's really an unbelievable turn of events in the AFC West as the Broncos, who once had such a commanding lead of the division could actually miss out on the playoffs, while the Chargers, who looked completely out of the race, now find themselves within one game of grabbing the division title.
And the first half of this hot rivalry game (made even more heated by the botched call by the refs in their first meeting) is all Chargers as they jump out to a huge lead thanks to L.T., who saved his best football for last. Tomlinson scored on a 21-yard burst through the middle to start the game, then added a 2-yard dive into the end zone to extend the Chargers lead to 18 just before the half.
The game was never much in question after that as the Broncos comeback attempts were thwarted by a couple of Jay Cutler fumbles. And while the final score looks close at San Diego 27, Denver 22, the Broncos scored their last touchdown with only 17 seconds left on the clock, and in a moment that summed up their season best, missed the point after, enabling the Chargers to sneak into the post season with a record of 8-8.
