S.A. assistant also stepped up last season
SAN ANTONIO -- For the second straight year, Shell Dailey will serve as interim head coach of the San Antonio Silver Stars.
Dailey, who started the WNBA season as one of the team's assistant coaches, was named to the job Wednesday, about two weeks after Dee Brown resigned.
The Silver Stars had a 6-18 record when Brown stepped down, and they have since lost two more games.
Last year, during the franchise's first year in San Antonio, Dailey took over when Candi Harvey was fired after compiling a 6-16 record. Under Dailey, the Silver Stars went 6-6 to finish the season.
Dailey, a McKinney native, played four seasons at the University of Texas 1981-85.
Before joining the Silver Stars, she was the head coach at Texas Christian University and an assistant at South Carolina, at Texas A&M and with the Nashville Noise of the American Basketball League.
The Silver Stars also announced Wednesday that Dale Osbourne will rejoin the team as an assistant coach. He held the same position last year during Dailey's 12 games as head coach.
