Detroit will host Liberty in Game 1
DETROIT -- The Detroit Shock will play the first game of the WNBA playoffs Friday at Joe Louis Arena.
The league's monthlong break for the Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, lengthened the season and created a scheduling conflict at The Palace of Auburn Hills, the Shock's regular home venue, the team said in a news release.
Detroit now will host the New York Liberty at Joe Louis Arena Game 1 of the best-of-three playoff series. Game time is 8 p.m. ET.
The series moves to New York for a game at noon Sunday. If needed, Game 3 will be 8 p.m. Tuesday in New York.
