Guards both sidelined with foot injuries
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Lynx placed guards Susan King Borchardt and Nuria Martinez on the injured list Friday, reducing their active roster to the required 11 for the beginning of the regular season.
King Borchardt, a rookie free agent from Stanford, played high school ball at Holy Angels in Richfield, Minn. She and Martinez each have an injury to their left foot, the team said. They must stay on the injured list for at least three games.
The rest of the roster: forwards Svetlana Abrosimova, Jacqueline Batteast, Amanda Lassiter, Stacey Lovelace, Kristen Mann, Nicole Ohlde and Tamika Williams; center Vanessa Hayden; and guards Kristi Harrower, Amber Jacobs and Katie Smith.
The Lynx begin the regular season Sunday at Houston.
