Lynx sign top pick Augustus
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Lynx signed the WNBA's first overall draft pick, Seimone Augustus, to a contract on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-1 Augustus helped lead LSU to a third straight Final Four and led the nation in scoring with 22.7 points per game. She was named the women's player of the year by The Associated Press.
Per the league's last collective bargaining agreement, rookie contracts are for three years guaranteed with a fourth option year.
Earlier this week, the Lynx signed free agent forward Brittany Davis. The team opens training camp Sunday, with the first regular-season game set for May 23.
