Jackson fastest to 3,000 points in Storm victory

CHICAGO (AP)-- Lauren Jackson had 27 points, 10 rebounds and six
blocks as the Seattle Storm beat the expansion Chicago Sky 74-61
Thursday night.

Sue Bird had 12 points and five assists, and Tiffani Johnson
added 10 points and seven rebounds to help Seattle (6-5) complete a
sweep of the two-game season series.

Stacey Lovelace scored a season-high 15 points and Candice
Dupree added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Sky (1-9), losers of
nine straight.

Jackson, the 2004 MVP, had 15 points and four blocks in the
third quarter as the Seattle took control. She was 4-of-6 from the
field and was a perfect 6-for-6 on free throws in the period. The
Storm closed the third quarter with a 10-2 run, including the last
six points by Jackson, to take a 53-42 lead.

Seattle outrebounded Chicago 34-22, including a 21-5 advantage
in the second half.

The Sky used a 13-3 run to give Chicago a 18-7 lead with 3:33
remaining in the first quarter. However, the Storm responded by
scoring 12 straight points.

Seattle then went on an 8-0 run midway through the second
quarter to take a 27-23, before the Sky scored the final four
points of the first half to tie the score at 27.
