CHICAGO (AP) -- Catherine Kraayeveld tied a career-high with 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the New York Liberty defeated the Chicago Sky 79-72 Tuesday night to snap a franchise-record 11-game losing streak.Barbara Farris added 10 points and 10 rebounds for New York and Loree Moore added 14.Candice Dupree had a career-high 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists as the Sky lost their seventh consecutive game. Amanda Lassiter added 10 points and eight rebounds.The Sky's Stacey Lovelace made a jumper with 2:25 remaining in the fourth quarter to make it 70-68. But a 3-pointer by Erin Thorn gave the Liberty a 73-68 lead with 1:47 left in the game. Shameka Christon's 3 with 45.5 seconds remaining gave New York a commanding 76-70 lead.Chicago used an 8-0 run to extend its lead to 49-39 with 4:51 left in the third quarter. But the Liberty went on a 16-4 run to end the third quarter up 54-53. The Sky outscored New York 21-19 in the second quarter to take a 41-37 lead into halftime.Chicago held a 22-10 advantage on points in the paint and only turned the ball over three times in the first half. Chicago got off to a fast start, taking a 13-2 lead on Stacey Dales' 3 with 4:57 left in the first quarter.Liberty leading scorer Becky Hammon missed her seventh straight game with a sprained left ankle. New York also was without its leading rebounder Kelly Schumacher-- out for the season with sprained ligaments in her right knee.
