Dupree's double-double helps Sky win, tie last year's win total

CHICAGO -- Candice Dupree had 24 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Chicago Sky to a 73-66 victory over the New York Liberty on Friday night.

Stacey Dales had 11 points for Chicago (5-5), which matched its win total from a year ago when the expansion franchise finished 5-29. Armintie Price had 10 rebounds and six assists, and Dominique Canty added 10 points for the Sky, who won for the fourth time in six games.

Shameka Christon scored 18 points for New York (6-3), which has lost three of four after starting the season 5-0. Tiffany Jackson added 17 points for the Liberty, who are in the midst of playing seven of nine games on the road after only playing twice away from Madison Square Garden to start the year.

A layup by Dupree with 3:53 left gave the Sky their biggest lead, 65-53.

Chicago finished the third quarter on a 17-6 run to take a 58-47 lead. A 3-pointer by Cathrine Kraayeveld with 6:47 left in the third tied the game at 41-all.

After Janel McCarville made a layup to pull New York within one, the Sky went on a 9-2 run to take a 35-27 lead with 1:25 remaining in the first half.

Chicago outrebounded the Liberty 46-27.
