YPSILANTI, Mich. -- The Detroit Shock are still alive in the WNBA playoffs, thanks in part to a very strange vegetable salad.Detroit star Plenette Pierson surprised her coach and her teammates by returning to the floor just seven days after dislocating her shoulder, and her 10 points helped the Shock stave off elimination with a 64-55 victory Sunday over the New York Liberty in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals.
• Deanna Nolan led all scorers with 22 points, her fourth game this postseason with 20 or more points.
• Detroit improved to 5-0 at home in conference finals games, while New York fell to 1-5 on the road in the conference finals.
• The Liberty, who shot 21.4 percent (3-14) in the final period, could not slow down the Shock, who hit 70 percent (7-10) from the field in the fourth quarter.
