Mystics use rebounding to hand Shock 10th straight loss

TULSA, Okla. -- Crystal Langhorne had 15 points and nine rebounds to help the Washington Mystics send the Tulsa Shock to their 10th consecutive loss, 69-54 Saturday night.

Monique Currie led Washington (11-5) with 17 points and Lindsey Harding scored 14 points.

"Crystal is one of the best rebounders in the league and she's always willing to do whatever we need her to do," Washington coach Julie Plank said. "Monique seems to be on a mission right now and she seems very confident.

Scholanda Robinson led the Shock with 16 points and Shanna Crossley had 11 for Tulsa (3-13), which was outrebounded 45-26.

"Lindsey had a great game and wanted to make sure we knew she had five rebounds from her point guard position," Plank said.

The Shock actually led by a point entering the second quarter, but made 1 of 13 shots, scored four points and trailed 30-19 at halftime.

That tied a WNBA record for fewest points in a quarter -- it was the fourth time in league history a team had scored just four points in a quarter.

"You don't even have to shoot and you can get four points," Tulsa coach Nolan Richardson said. "It was a difficult night for us field goal-wise, and a very difficult night on the boards."

Washington won for the eighth time in nine games, most during a stretch of six games in 10 days. The Mystics have a 12-day break before playing the New York Liberty on July 15.

Katie Smith, playing against the Shock for the first time since leaving in the offseason when they relocated to Tulsa from Detroit, had six points on 4 of 11 shooting.
