SEATTLE -- Tanisha Wright and the Seattle Storm got their offense rolling and finally figured out a way to slow down high-scoring Diana Taurasi.Wright scored 21 points, and Camille Little had 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the defending WNBA champion Storm over the Phoenix Mercury 80-61 on Thursday night in the opener of the Western Conference semifinals.Lauren Jackson added 13 points, six rebounds and three blocks for Seattle, which led 69-42 after three quarters. Swin Cash added 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The Phoenix Mercury's 19-point margin of defeat in their Game 1 loss to Seattle on Thursday was the 2nd-worst playoff loss in the franchise's 15-year history. The only time a Mercury squad loss a playoff game by more points was on August 13, 2000, when they fell by 25 points (101-76) in the 2nd and deciding game of a 1st round series against the L.A. Sparks in Los Angeles.
